_VIGILGONZALES Buenos Aires is proud to present Intermezzo, a group exhibition that brings together the work of four artists from Chile, Peru and Argentina who, through different disciplines and approaches, explore the limits of the geographical, the personal and the collective. This exhibition invites us to think of Latin America not only as a shared geography, but as a web of migrant histories, cultural appropriations and interior landscapes that, in their multiplicity, seek to challenge the dominant narratives that have shaped the region.
In Intermezzo, art becomes a transdisciplinary space, where the boundaries between the visual, the sound and the textual are blurred to generate new forms of thought and creation. The invited artists draw a symbolic map that questions us, proposing a re-reading of the concept of identity: it is no longer a fixed and closed identity, but one in constant movement, defined by the crossing of influences, collective memory and personal stories of displacement and resistance.
On the other hand, cultural appropriation is approached from a critical and reflexive perspective, questioning the history of domination and resistance that has traversed Latin American peoples. The exhibited artists lead us to question the dynamics of power that have influenced artistic and cultural production in the region, while proposing new forms of resignification that, far from falling into repetition, seek to open paths of autonomous and transformative creation.
The exhibition proposes an open dialogue between art and identity, borders and memory. The artists invite us to cross boundaries, both physical and conceptual, and to reflect on our place in the world. At a time when barriers, both geopolitical and social, are reinforced and multiplied, this exhibition stands as an invitation to challenge those borders, to blur them and to think about a Latin America that is built in the crossing, in transit and in difference. Art becomes here a tool of resistance, capable of questioning the established and opening new possibilities to imagine shared futures.
