Artists
Fernando Nureña
Completed studies at the Faculty of Art of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Notable among his individual exhibitions are “Espectros” at _VIGILGONZALES Lima (2021) and “No place to go” at _VIGILGONZALES Cusco (2022). He had an institutional exhibition titled “La Casa y la Fabrica” at ICPNA Lima, curated by Mijail Mitrovic Pease. His artistic contributions have been featured in various exhibitions in Lima, such as “Mixtape” at PaseoLab @ Galería del Paseo (2020), where he received the Third Prize ICPNA Arte Contemporáneo at Espacio Juan Pardo Heeren (2020). Other exhibitions include “Effective Collaboration” at Laboraleatorio (2019), “Night of videos 2” at Sala Luis Miró Quesada (2017), and the 35th National Engraving Salon at ICPNA (2016). Additionally, he plays a role in the design team of Meier Ramirez Publicaciones Independientes. Currently residing and practicing art in Lima.
His artistic practice is built from a constant relationship with documentary photography as a means of research: she usually works from archival material, photographs, newspapers, posters, books, and others, which circulated in the city of Lima from the 1960s onwards. The analysis of this material leads me to the question of the current state of images and the capacity they have to produce meanings.
